An independent consulting and application engineering firm engaged in the design, inspection and general oversight of exterior wall systems and components, building enclosures including glazed wall systems, skylights, metal and stone cladding, non-ferrous panel and cladding systems, entrance systems and associated sealants. The firm specializes in custom system designs and special applications of standard wall systems and, as of July 2011, has been directly evolved in the design development, construction and/or renovation of over 17,000,000 sq. ft. of commercial office space and major airport expansions, plus 2,000,000 sq. ft. of mid to high rise residential projects with an aggregate value in access of Three billion dollars.
November 1980 – July 1997:

a Design/Build Exterior Wall Systems sub-contractor and manufacturer, with aggregate sales approaching $50,000,000; specializing in the total responsibility for the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of custom and high performance Glazed Wall Systems, Skylights and Aluminum Cladding Systems in Texas, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington (state). As Owner, President and Chief Engineer, Mr. Courtney was directly involved in every aspect of the work undertaken by the Company.
July 1977 – November 1980:
The F.H. Maloney Co. – Houston, Texas
Eastern Regional Manager and Chief Application Engineer- Architectural Products Division, based in Atlanta, Georgia; directly responsible for nationwide OEM accounts (Cupples Products, Kawneer, Amarlite, Vistawall, Atlas Architectural, etc) and general engineered sales management for the eastern United States, plus application engineering world wide; Specifically responsible for the design of new, special and/or custom Lock-Strip glazing gaskets and Dry-set (“sponge & wedge” type) glazing gaskets plus many of the aluminum framing systems utilized by The Company’s customers; Managed and co-ordinated a network of seventeen (17) manufactures’ representatives throughout the eastern United States.
May 1967 – July 1977:
HENDRIX GLASS & MIRROR, INC. – Houston, Texas;
Engineered Sales, Senior Project Manager, Chief Estimator And Systems Engineer; Complete responsibility for design and engineered sales, management and the successful execution of all types of sub-contract glazing and curtainwall work from convenience stores to mid-rise office buildings. Special emphasis on the design and implementation of “proprietary” or “in-house” Glazed Wall Systems and Aluminum Cladding Systems.
June 1966 – May 1967:
STRAN-STEEL CORPORATION – World Headquarters, Houston, Texas
Architectural Department; supervised a five member team of draftsmen (including himself) engaged in the preparation of all drawings required for The Company’s Design And Technical Manuals. Prepared presentation and working drawings for National Accounts and international projects.
July 1964 – June 1966:
PORTER-LITE PRODUCTS, INC. – Houston, Texas
Engineering Department; prepared shop drawings, die drawings, fabrication and piece/part drawings for the manufacture and installation of a complete line of operable windows, sliding doors and window wall systems distributed throughout the United States, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Ultimately achieving the position of Chief Draftsman.
